Canadian Leader in Energy
Challenge ?
This project’s goal consisted in providing a picture of
the roof unit-type heating and air conditioning system market.
Indeed, our client was looking to assess the competitive position
of natural gas as an energy source in the heating equipment market
as opposed to electric heating equipment.
Solution ?
• Estimation of the roof unit population based on a study
by the Office of Energy Efficiency.
• Search for media and statistical information on the Quebec
and Canadian markets’ evolution•
Fact-finding expert survey (manufacturers and business owners)
on the competitive position of equipment in newly constructed
buildings or replacement of obsolete equipment, and appraisal
of modulation control knowledge and attractiveness.
• Assessment of market potential and our client’s
current market share.
Challenge ?
Legislative changes drove our client to reflect on site conditions
in the handling pallet industry. The objective was to evaluate
impact of new phytosanitary standards on energy consumed as part
of drying wood pallets and other wooden packaging materials used
in exports:
Solution ?
• Specific picture of the industry at the international,
national and provincial levels (current and future standards,
varieties of wood and relief treatment of stress, machinery used,
etc.).
• Market structure (number and sizes of businesses involved).
• Estimation of the various business categories’ energy
consumption potential.
• Gecoding of businesses that make up the industry and comparison
with our client’s network.
• Establishment of a buffer zone, extraction of the various
high-potential businesses and current clients from the company’s
client database.
Results
These studies oriented our client in its strategy and allowed
it to position itself effectively and profitably with respect
to its competitors. In addition, it reacted appropriately to changes
that occurred in these lines of activity. Indeed, our client enjoys
relative success with these industries and wanted to determine
the true picture so it could implement efficient, effective marketing
initiatives.
